Behind the Masks
What do we see?
The eyes have it.
No mouth to serve up a smile or frown.
We rely on the face to tell us the truth.
But there is a problem.
Silver-tongued devils
can tell us lies with a smile
and let us buy their hype.
We learn to distrust
but still, give our goods in exchange.
The saddest face:
Is it loving or going for blood?
Are we to be trusted within ourselves?
We use expressions to judge
and be judged.
The bully and the weakling,
the sad and the happy,
all play across our faces
for others to see
or not.
