Cheney, I’m speaking here as an Old Guy who has been through a number of relationships.

  1. As far as I can tell, dating apps are the online version of what we used to call “meat markets” ie. not reliable for long-term relationships.
  2. You need to get out into social situations (writer meet-ups, support groups, community centers, wherever people get together) and spread your wings.
  3. Tell the shame and fear to stay at home and bring your laughter and self-respect. I have always been attracted to open, “real” women more than good-looking bimbos.

It’s hard, I know, to get out there after being away for long. And you have to deal with things in your own way. These are just suggestions, but I’m rooting for you.
