Dark Lady
I took a walk with Death
She is a quiet being
but not unpleasant to talk to.
She likes those who go
in quiet acceptance
of their unknown future.
The worst are the dead-enders
the accidents, overdoses, suicides
who never learned of life.
Those that find creative ends
are her favorites.
With pen or brush in hand
or in a song or dance
ready to come to the other side
making beauty and trouble.
“The more inevitable things are,
they are resisted by humans.”
She said.
“It has always been so.
And stories to explain
sometimes come close.”
“You live your lives in the story
and so shall you meet the end.
For nothing is impossible
with a good story.
