First: Thank you for being there. Our educators are our hope for the future.

“Teach your children well…” as the song says.

Teach them:

That fear is not normal, but a method of control.

That societies survive by cooperation, not individuation.

That creativity is more powerful and lasts longer than violence and destruction.

That propaganda is a real modern weapon used by all sides.

And, that the mind and ability to think are the most powerful and ancient weapons we have.

These are just a few provable truths.

America didn’t get this way overnight and won’t be fixed in a day. But, your students can and will influence their world, one way or another.

Quick fixes and hyper-vigilance may help for now. But, knowing the past and believing in the future are non-illusory methods for fixing what ails us.
