“If I were a Rich Man, Ya-da-dee-dah-Dee-dah-dum…”
“ Money, it’s a gas.”
If money wasn’t an issue:
I would have less stress.
I would be able to help friends and family.
My creditors would be happy.
I would feel more secure in my home.
I would build a ‘green’ home
I would have more pets.
I would have an accountant and assistant
-(I need financial and organizational help)
or Maybe I need more help
I wish that, like many who have written on this, I could say that I was doing okay and was able to live simply on my income.
Lest I sound jealous, I would not trade my life for theirs. I have spent my existence living on the economic edge and being somewhat ‘irresponsible’. With age, this has become more problematic.
I could wish for more than Thrift Shop treasures
I think that anything artful is built by striving. The desire to communicate something beyond ‘what is’ is the motivator for creation. But we get caught in the money-trap in order to survive.
There is ‘cost’ in staying alive -fed, sheltered, healthy, etc.
And, it is important to have gratitude-
Since my house burned down
I now own a better view
of the rising moon- Mizuta Masahide
What a strange thing!
to be alive
beneath cherry blossoms.
It would be wonderful if money wasn’t an issue.
But life is so much more than money.
Friends, nature, poetry, music,
and stories that we tell ourselves or get from others
are fulfilling to the soul.
There are many things that I could accomplish with money but there is much that I can do without it. And I would not sell my soul for great wealth.

Øivind H. Solheim Tagged me on this and it has been interesting.
If this appeals to you and you decide to write your own “If money wasn’t an issue” piece, let me know, I’d love to read it.
