In The Forest
Making the Medieval scene
Passing through a medieval forest
the lone minstrel
must play to himself.
The troop of players
stretch body and voice
in dark passage.
The knight
ever aware
for dragons.
Hiway men rob
the noble-folks
that dare to pass.
This forest has seen
all this
and not been moved
to laugh.
