When you’ve been to Hell
you have learned
how to laugh
or how to die.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
When you live with and around mental dis-ease,
you are required, to develop a personal
philosophy, mythology, and theology
that suits your very personal circumstances.

For me, this took on a rebellious aspect.

My gods are strong, scarred and benevolent.
My myths contain overcoming disasters, love,
acceptance of the world and its inhabitants,
and an everpresent vigilance.
My philosophy is orientalist and accepting of
the everchanging chaos.

I love poetry.
It has fluidity and acceptance of
even the harshest of things.
My favorite poets are often free-verse and “outlaw”.
Haiku (of a freeform style), transcendental poets,
the Beats, and all those who tell their truths with an understanding that what they write, in ways, transcends experience or captures it.

And my writing?
It is influenced by the poetic.
And my poetry?
— — — — — — — -AHH — — — — — — —
It is influenced by the life around me,
and the rebelliousness within.
To be clear, I may rebel against a set of rules
or use them to rebel.
It is the art of rebellion.
I seek to tell a truth — my “truth”
-and it may shift in the course of time
and it is open to interpretation.
There is transient beauty that I would capture.
Poetry inspires a multi-dimensional,
“beyond the pale” understanding of life.
I could go on…

Suffice to say, I try to write the things that I would like to read. I want to have my mind broken open to new worlds. To feel passion and power and be born anew. and if I aspire to this I might by chance add to the lives of others.

laugh
cry
LIVE!
and if I talk too much
please accept it
as the winds
before the storm
moving through
the tall pines.

Thank you for your attention.
