THEY DREAM
Outlaws, rogues, misfits, crazies,
OG’s, and fools, freaks and lone-wolf bikers
They can be abrasive
or hide in the shadow
Accused of being different “on purpose”
Angry, bullies or bullied, loners (even as they stand out)
Sometimes they travel in loose packs,
Sometimes they isolate or travel alone
They may laugh too loud
talk too much, tell you stories
create beauty or break ugly
They may live a different life than you.

I think on the Land of Normal.
My mother told me it was pretty
I don’t know how she knew
The closer I got, the more I feared it
Wild-child I guess
couldn’t fit in
I loved what I called freedom
all I could see was jails
The fringe seemed safe
amid outsiders and scoff-laws
poets and dreamers
a diverse crew of loners
Some of this is an illusion
and some is real
When the reality is painful
myth becomes Truth
Sometimes it is better to tell truth with poetry
because Truth is always poetic.
